July 4th, 2011

We didn't have a lot planned since I was on call for the weekend and the holiday, but the way I split up the call with a co-worker, I had from 9am-10pm off.  We took advantage of Braxton not being here (we do miss him while he is with his dad for 2 weeks) and being able to all fit in the truck, and ran up to Beaver to have lunch and take the trailer up on the mountain.  I'm bummed that I don't have any pictures, I thought I'd left my camera in my car at home, turn out it was in my purse the whole dang time which was I never got out of the truck all day.
We spent some time at the park and let the kids play some games on the park, eat sno cones and cotton candy.  Lunch was a yummy BBQ up to my parents, and I made a way cute flag fruit pizza with strawberries and blueberries.  We ran over and got the trailer, and I was very proud of myself  for being brave to back in and hook it up all by myself and then pulled it back up to my mom's house, but too chicken to pull it all the way up the mountain.  We are excited to be up there and can't wait to go camp!
We stopped in Cedar for a very long-over-due visit with gpa Webb, the kids had fun eating popsicles and playing in the water.  We got home just in time to park down by the Sunbowl, and watch the fireworks in the back of the truck.  Camrie was so funny, she'd rub mine and Troy's arms and say "Fireworks make me happy, do fireworks make you happy Mom/Dad?"  Tanner is seems to be so sensitive to loud noises, and again, didn't love the fireworks, but tolerated them if I held my hands over his ears, and kept him talking about the different shapes and colors of the fireworks, and Kason slept in his car seat through the whole thing.  I was lucky to make it through the fireworks without being called in, but as soon as we pulled out of the parking lot, my pager went off, so we just headed over to the ER.  I was also lucky to just have one patient, since I was in shorts and flip flops, and the kids and Troy hung out while I was super fast, I was also lucky that Troy's badge worked in the ER since mine was home in my car!  We all got home about 11:30 and just let the kids fall asleep on the floor in the living room, it wasn't worth the fight to keep them in their beds at that time of night! A long day, but fun nonetheless!!! I am thankful to live in this great country with the freedoms that we enjoy everyday!!

Overnight Get-away

We needed to use/or lose some credits at our timeshare, so we reserved 2 nights at the St. George Worldmark. My parents came down and took 9 of the older grandkids to see The Little Mermaid out to Tuachan and they all stayed one night, and we stayed the other. Although our house is less than 5 mins away, and it was just overnight,  it was still so nice to just relax and let the kids play in the pool.  Too bad we had to get up and go to work in the morning! Braxton is staying 2 weeks with his dad, and we really missed him, he got to stay the first night with gma and gpa, but was bummed about not being able to stay with our family the next.

Fun in the pool- Camrie wouldn't let go of me to take her picture!

Camrie had fun on the slides and rope ladder

Tanner met some friends on the playground,  who were playing pirates and shared their swords with him.

Manti Pageant

When Troy and I were dating, we made a list one night of all the fun things we wanted to do, and the Manti Pageant was one of them....almost 5 years later, we finally got there!  It's probably been about 12 years since I was there last, and longer for Troy.  We decided to take Braxton and leave the little ones in Beaver with Grandma and Grandpa Smith (big thanks to them!)  The turkey dinner before the pageant was yummy, the night was beautiful, we all loved the performance, and we were tasted by only a few mosquitoes each!  We got back to Beaver around 1:30 am, and Troy was up on his way to St. George to see patients by 6:30am, he came back up and got us later that afternoon after he was finished. Hopefully we can go back before another 5 years and take the kids as they get a little older.
view from our seats...beautiful!

Random pictures....

B.day present from Gma Smith. Camrie says"look how cute I am!"

It took me a minute to notice the grapes in Tanner's ears too...

I curled camrie's hair and she said "I'm SOOOO pretty, can I have hairspray mom?"

Almost too big for his bassinett, what a fun little guy!

A little soaking time in the sink!
Town Square is one of our fav's in the summer

Some of Camrie's favorite things: her pink cowboy boots, pillow pet, Baby W (poor thing is always upside down!) and her swimming suit which she carries around and calls her purse.

Mom makes a quick get away..

Last week I had the very infrequent opportunity of escaping St. George and ran up to Beaver for a quick visit.  Here's the 'infrequent opportunity' kicker....I went CHILDLESS!! that's right...I could listen to my own music on my ipod ( no Twinkle, Twinkle, or Baa Baa Black Sheep etc...) and turn it up really loud! It's amazing how quick my nearly record breaking fast pit stop in Cedar was to get a drink without kids needing a treat and a trip to the bathroom.  Anyway, I went up to see my friend and get a very long over due hair cut and color, and rode up the mountain with mom and dad to take the canoes up to the campground, and check on the snow melt. We found quite a few trees down with some mighty big roots!  It was a beautiful day and I can't wait to get our trailer up there!
not the best choice of footwear!

Check out this tree root!

Lots of trees bent over from the heavy wet snow

I'm feeling a bit broken....

For about a month, I've had a really sore thumb joint that hurt to bend, I just figured since I am getting old the pain was probably a little arthritis, and tried to ignore it.  Well,  I've whined a little, tried holding pens differently, and the other day finally took advantage of where I work and had it x-rayed. Turns out, I have a fractured Rt. thumb....how? you might ask??? that is a very good question! I can't think of anything specific that I've hit really hard or smashed it with.  The break isn't something that is really pin-able so my alternatives include: splint it, or try to perfect my left handed writing and ultrasound skills and suck it up.  So....I am sporting this classy hot pink  thumb splint for a few weeks, (the nurse of the house says 6-8 weeks...) hoping it will help it along.  My writing looks like I'm back in 7th grade, and so far my ultrasound scans aren't too bad, except babies are harder to chase without a thumb I've discovered.  Hopefully it will heal and feel better quick!

At least the coban matches my nails!
